Job Title: Solar Technician
Location: Port Vila, Vanuatu. Travel to remote project sites, including outer islands and international locations, is required.
Employment Type: Full-time (1-year fly-in, fly-out contract or full expatriate relocation position).
Salary: USD $3,000–$6,000 per month, negotiable based on skills and qualifications, with additional benefits.
Requirements: Occasional overtime may be required to meet project deadlines.

About the Role
Seeking a highly skilled and motivated Solar Technician with at least 5 years of experience in solar and battery system installation. This role combines hands-on technical work with managerial responsibilities, including overseeing store operations, leading teams, and engaging with government and international stakeholders. The successful candidate will report directly to the Electrical Supervisor and play a key role in delivering renewable energy projects across Vanuatu and beyond.
As a site-based role, the position demands exceptional organizational skills, technical expertise, and attention to detail. You will represent the company on project sites, prioritizing clear communication and customer satisfaction while ensuring high-quality project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design, install, test, and commission renewable energy systems, including off-grid solar PV and battery installations.
• Supervise and mentor local technicians and students, fostering skill development.
• Maintain clear and continuous communication with clients to meet their needs and expectations.
• Prepare and sign off on post-installation reports for government and international aid-funded projects.
• Provide service and technical support for existing clients.
• Implement and report on health and safety protocols.
• Assist with streamlining work processes and improving operational efficiency.
• Manage store operations, including:
o Stock ordering and control.
o Staff recruitment, training, and management.
o Preparing production reports.
• Support the preparation and submission of government and other tenders.
• Represent the company at conferences and meetings with government and international aid agencies.
• Travel to outer islands and international locations for installations, project sign-offs, and training.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Valid electrical licensing or relevant qualifications.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in renewable energy project installations, preferably with off-grid solar PV and battery systems (experience with Victron Energy and ATESS systems is highly desirable).
• Proficiency in computer-based electrical single-line diagrams (SLDs) and schematic diagram software.
• Proven experience using hand and battery-operated tools.
• Comprehensive knowledge of renewable energy system design and installation.
• Current driver’s license.
• Competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
• Strong proficiency in English (verbal and written).
• Willingness to travel to remote and international locations.
